NFC Season Predictions: Division Standings and Super Bowl

by Ryan Mercier

Why even write out a first paragraph? You’re here for the predictions, baby. Aim your football hatred and joke missiles directly at me.

NFC North

  1. Green Bay Packers
  2. Minnesota Vikings
  3. Chicago Bears
  4. Detroit Lions

From the very second Jordan Love was selected by the Packers it became one of the best moves of the entire offseason. However, before he ever takes the field Aaron Rodgers will be on a Hell-bent mission to destroy the NFL and prove he is still elite. Minnesota chose its yearly fate when Kirk Cousins took the reigns: Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. The Bears have Khalil Mack so they get the Bronze Medal. Meanwhile, people are really excited to point out the Lions were 3-4-1 with Matthew Stafford in the lineup. Congrats.

NFC South

  1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  2. New Orleans Saints
  3. Atlanta Falcons
  4. Carolina Panthers

The greatest QB of all-time now has a reason to be more determined than ever. More importantly, Tom Brady is going to have a formidable defense. What more do people need? There are tentative takes about the Bucs but this is a clear no-brainer even if Brady is 80 years old. New Orleans is a more than worthy contender for No. 1. Just typing out the words “Atlanta Falcons” bores me and by the time I type “Teddy Bridgewater’s Carolina Panthers” I am now sound asleep.

NFC East

  1. Dallas Cowboys
  2. Philadelphia Eagles
  3. Washington Football Team
  4. New York Giants

Mike McCarthy got tarred and feathered about predictable route concepts by people who know what they’re talking about but mostly by people who have no clue. Here’s a concept: McCarthy took his team to four NFC Championships. Dallas is in great hands. Philly feels good but not Special. Ron Rivera, a good defense, and a QB surprise will give Washington a result better than expected. The Giants have two exciting players in Danny Dimes and Saquon Barkley. Two.

NFC West

  1. Seattle Seahawks
  2. Arizona Cardinals
  3. San Francisco 49ers
  4. Los Angeles Rams

NFL offseason hype is usually an indicator things will go horribly wrong for a team (see last year’s Browns). Not for the Arizona Cardinals. The recipe is there to take a big step up with improvement from Kyler Murray. However, the defense may not be enough to overtake the division. Ole Reliable Russell Wilson will take the NFC West crown. The 49ers were an unstoppable force of power in 2019 but will suffer the classic Super Bowl Hangover. Some believe the Rams can reach their offensive heights from 2018 but they have never been the same since MVP-level Todd Gurley disappeared.

NFC Championship: Packers vs. Bucs

Super Bowl bound: Green Bay Packers
