Beautiful Disaster in Dallas
Slow clap. How do you even describe what happened? Anyone with no rooting interest in the Falcons or Cowboys got to just enjoy the chaotic scene on Sunday where Dak Prescott’s squad somehow scored three times in the last five minutes to win. Head coach Mike McCarthy should be adding something positive to the Cowboys and instead he has been trying to tear away victories from his own team. Going for a two-point conversion down nine was a stupid decision. Analytics people: Yes I’ve read the articles. Shut up about it already.
Russ vs. Cam
Sunday Night Football delivered with authority as Russell Wilson emerged victorious over the new-looks Pats. While Wilson threw five TDs, Cam Newton looked as good as ever in what could have been a 4th quarter comeback win New England fans are used to in the same vein as Tom Brady. What’s different, though, is Josh McDaniels dialing up the last play for his quarterback to power run his way into the end zone. Imagine watching Brady trying to do that (though funny enough, the result would have been the same).
Teams with a Soft 2-0 Record
Buffalo has looked great coming out of the gate to start the 2020 season. The Bills should win the AFC East but it is still worth noting they played the Dolphins and Jets. It’s not yet time to hype up Josh Allen. To repeat for angry Bills fans, Buffalo will win the division. This is simply being cautious about whether or not they are a true AFC contender.
The Chicago Bears have the most pillowy-soft two wins in the NFL. First came a dropped winning TD from the Lions followed by barely clinging to a lead against a Giants team without Saquon Barkley.
Lastly, the Tennessee Titans threw up all over themselves and somehow still beat a weak Denver team on the opening week of MNF. In Week 2, their defense was shredded by Gardner Minshew and likely would have given up a score on the final drive if not for an incredibly lucky tipped D-line interception.
Final Notes
- The Lions backfield: What the Hell are you?! Three guys could start for different teams and yet it all adds up to nothing. Adrian Peterson (who still looks good) comes off the scrap heap and is the lead back?
- Is the Jaguars offense for real?
- Vikings are a pathetic, non-competitive 0-2
- Ravens keep rolling
